About Knollwood Nursing Center
The new Knollwood Nursing Center opened in January 2002, the features and functions of our 82-bed nursing center are extensive and offer a state-of-the-art healthcare environment. More importantly, the highly skilled and dedicated staff at Knollwood focuses on providing each and every patient with a personal environment of care that fosters swift and successful recovery.
Our strong relationships with area hospitals and with health insurance providers ease patient transition from hospital to Knollwood. Upon admission, each patient is assigned a team of caregivers that remains constant throughout his or her stay. Nurses, nursing assistants, social worker, nurse case manager, therapists… this continuity of relationships – a familiar smiling face – is reassuring for patients and enables us to better assess each patient’s progress.
The clean, comfortable semi-private rooms are spacious, enabling patients to bring cherished items from home.
Bright and
airy, rooms are configured for privacy with beds
arranged toe-to-toe rather than side-by-side. This gives
every patient his or her own window with a view onto the
landscaped grounds or into the beautiful sunny
courtyard, a favorite place to relax and enjoy the
outdoors.

History
In January 2002,
the beautiful state-of-the-art Knollwood Nursing Center
opened its doors. It continued a tradition begun in 1991
when the Salem Community Corporation founded by the
First Baptist Church and the Salem Covenant Church
purchased Knollwood Nursing Center, which was located
adjacent to Briarwood. The acquisition was the first
step towards creating a comprehensive continuing care
retirement community where Briarwood’s residents would
be assured of nursing care should the need arise. Today,
in keeping with the spirit and scope of our mission,
Knollwood welcomes all members of the greater Worcester
community.
