Volunteering

At Knollwood Nursing Center, we are always looking for warm and professional volunteers who are looking to make a difference in the lives of seniors.  Since not all of our residents have children or close relatives living nearby, they do not always receive regular visitors.  Volunteers make a difference in the lives of our residents by helping them stay connected to the community and by providing them meaningful companionship.

Types of Volunteers

A volunteer’s duties can vary depending on whether the volunteer has any unique skills that could help our residents (such as singing, playing instruments, or culinary skills.)  While some volunteers do perform specialized duties that match their unique skills, many of our volunteers enjoy leading group activities, such as bingo, cards, or prayer groups.
One-on-one volunteerism can also provide meaningful service.  As a one-on-one volunteer, you would provide companionship to our residents by sharing conversations, taking walks around the nursing center, playing board games, and reading books.
Volunteering at a nursing center can also mean assisting the staff with tasks like meal allocation, patient transport within the facility, or perhaps distributing beverages.  Our staff is always grateful when volunteers assist them in completing tasks.
